Photobucket

Dani Pedrosa, who finished the 2010 MotoGP World Championship second overall, will spend a full month working on his physical condition to ensure that he is in the best possible shape for the first MotoGP test of 2011 at Sepang, Malaysia, from February 1st to 3rd.

The specialists was told Pedrosa to rest his shoulder which sustained heavy trauma damage when broke his left collarbone in two places during practice for October’s Japanese Grand Prix.

The injury was pinned and plated at Barcelona’s USP Instittut Universitari Dexeus, but serious bruising and swelling in the shoulder caused Pedrosa a serious lack of strength and feeling throughout the arm during the last few races of the season.

Dani Pedrosa will make good use of his final days off to take part in two pre-Christmas charity events in Spain. On Sunday December 19th he will be one of several stars who will participate in the TV3 Marathon which this year raises money for those who have suffered spinal cord or brain injuries.

Then on Tuesday December 21st Pedrosa will take part in an event to mark the publication of a children’s book at Barcelona’s Fnac Illa Diagonal. ‘Two mechanical elves for Dani Pedrosa’ tells the story of Dani’s first steps in the world of racing. As per Pedrosa’s wishes, five percent of book sales profits will go towards the NGO SOS Aldeas Infantiles children’s charity. The book launch will include a media presentation at 17:30 and a book-signing session for fans from 18:00 to 19:00.

Max Biaggi: 'Lorenzo is the one to beat, but watch out for Stoner'

Photobucket

Jorge Lorenzo believes that his biggest rival and threat in 2011 will be Casey Stoner, and World Superbike champion Max Biaggi agrees with him, while former arch rival Valentino Rossi on the Ducati, doesn’t even get the slightest mention.

Biaggi, in a let’s talk about everything under the sun interview with Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport said, “Lorenzo had an excellent season and did a great job. He was really fantastic. I’m certain that he is going to be the man to beat also next year, but look out for Stoner…” but also took a small potshot at Dorna by stating “Lorenzo is the result of MotoGP policy, they’re certain that very young winners are good from a marketing standpoint. Lorenzo is 23, but he’s been racing in the world championship since he was 15, this makes him a veteran in his own right.”

The Italian champion also tried to analyze why it took eleven years to get another title, “I asked myself the same question. Maybe it was my destiny to wait for Aprilia, the same company where I started a long time ago.”

Since everyone was wondering and joking about why in the world Biaggi called his son Leon Alexandre, like Leon Haslam and Alex Barros, the 39-year old explained, ” it was just a coincidence, they are pretty common names. Eleonora and I liked them both.”

Jorge Lorenzo Maybe Leaving Dainese For Alpinestars

Photobucket

Jorge Lorenzo maybe leaving Dainese which supplies the overalls, gloves, boots, etc, and switc to Alpinestars the same used by, among others, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa or Nicky Hayden after 2010. Apparently the 2010 reigning World Champion is not happy with the fact that the Italian company, that supplies a number of professional riders, has failed to use him in any ad campaign exploiting his MotoGP title.

The question goes even deeper as Lorenzo has found out that his arch rival and former team mate, a certain pain in the ass that goes by the name of Valentino Rossi, is not only the honorary president of AGV Helmets (even if Lorenzo wears Nolan) which was purchased in 2007 by Dainese from Imag and that ‘The Doctor’ is also a shareholder in both companies and is close friends with Lino Dainese, who founded the company.

Dainese has been supplying Lorenzo since his 250cc days and Lorenzo has also been involved in the D-Air leathers development and has always received the same technical treatment as the other Dainese riders, but Lorenzo wants more star power and wants to stay away from the still shining light of a certain MotoGP legend, who pulls sponsors towards him like a black hole or it could be something more simple and venal, like more sponsorship money.

motorsport - motoGP - Jorge Lorenzo: Better Pedrosa Than Rossi

During a documentary about his career last December, Jorge Lorenzo spoke about 2011 MotoGP championship.

"It's nice to be considered the title favorite - he said in response to a statement from Honda listing him as such - but I think there will be no clear favorite for 2011."

The Spaniard also took the occasion to say who he would like to see win the championship, if he himself cannot do it.

"Naturally I'd like a Spaniard to win it, rather than Rossi, so that would be Dani Pedrosa.  Especially not that Valentino has moved to Ducati."
